Welcome to the class web site for CIOS 258, taught by C. Gering. This post is the "starting point" for students registered for the Spring 2008 semester. I've decided to recycle the class blog from last spring-- so if you scroll down, you'll see posts from a previous class. It's not necessary to read any of the posts from last semester, but they're available if you're interested.
This is an intensive -participation class. In order to succeed in this class you must attend regularly and work together with other class members. I'll provide lots of hands-on exercises and opportunities for discussion during class time. You'll be expected to post photos online every week, and to comment on the photos your classmates post.
This course is built on the belief that adult students bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the classroom. Your participation in the classroom and online will enrich the learning experience for other students. If you miss class, you're hurting other students by withholding your unique perspective. Because of that, attendance and participation constitute a significant part of your course grade.
